Worship Assistants

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord  (1 Corinthians 12:4-5)

We like to involve everyone in the worship service.  It can be as simple as following along in the worship booklet, listening, saying the prayers, and focusing our attention on God.  In addition, you can take on a special role, such as:

  • Acolyte - walk in with the priest, carry the cross or a candle, help prepare communion
  • Greeter - open the door, say good morning, help visitors find their way around
  • Intercessor - lead the "prayers of the people" during the service
  • Lay Eucharistic Minister - serve the wine during communion
  • Lay Eucharistic Visitor - bring communion to home-bound members
  • Lay Reader - lead a morning prayer service, or officiate at any of the non-Eucharist portions of any service
  • Lector - read the Bible passages for the day
  • Presenter - carry the bread and wine to the altar
  • Usher - hand out worship booklets, direct traffic during communion, collect the offering
